Healthy Work Environments

Creation of an Action Plan

This will help you to begin to reduce the symptoms of stress by taking immediate action. It will also give you a long term plan to maintain the reduction in stress symptoms.

  1. Read through your customised report
  2. At the end of each section of the report you will find bullet points headed ‘what to do’.
  3. On the following page below you will find an Action Plan template which you can use to plan how you are going to manage demands on you.
  4. On the Table List fill in the activities as you read about them
  5. When you have completed the list put them in order of importance by filling in the column headed ‘Priority’. Identify the action that you feel is the most important for you to start with and put ‘1’ next to that. Number all the rest of the activities in order of importance.
  6. Go to the table headed Action Plan
  7. Fill in the Activities in the Activity column of the Action Plan in order of priority. If there is not enough space on the table photocopy it or create one yourself on your computer.
  8. For each activity estimate how long it will take. You may be able to do more than one activity in each week in which case fill in the appropriate rows, or one task may take longer than a week.
